The Alba grade

The finest grade of Ceylon Cinnamon.

Ceylon Cinnamon quills are graded by diameter, colour, weight and surface blemishes. Alba is the finest — only the most slender, cleanest quills make the grade.

  • Clean, even barkNo more than 10% surface blemishing (known as foxing) — the strictest limit in the standard.
  • Crafted by handThe outer bark is scraped away, then the delicate inner bark is peeled, rolled and dried by hand over 6–10 days.

Questions

Good to know.

What is Alba grade?

Alba is the finest grade of Ceylon Cinnamon. Quills are graded by diameter, colour, weight and surface blemishes, and Alba quills are no wider than 6 mm — the thinnest of any grade in the Ceylon Cinnamon GI standard — with no more than 10% surface blemishing.

Why does Alba grade cost more?

Only the most slender, cleanest quills meet the Alba grade, and every quill is scraped, peeled, rolled and dried by hand. Its value comes from the quality of the bark, skilled craftsmanship and careful grading.

What part of the cinnamon is in Alba Brew?

Alba Brew is flaked from the outer layer of Alba-grade quills. That layer is the tree's delicate inner bark — the rough outer bark of the tree is scraped away before peeling.

What's in Alba Brew?

One ingredient: Premium Ceylon Cinnamon from Alba-grade quills, from our family's plantation in Sri Lanka. No additives, no preservatives, no sugar added.

Does Alba Brew contain caffeine?

No. Alba Brew is pure Ceylon Cinnamon, so it's naturally caffeine-free.

What's the difference between Ceylon Cinnamon and regular cinnamon?

Ceylon Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), also called True Cinnamon, is native to Sri Lanka. It's lighter, sweeter and more delicate than cassia, the cinnamon most commonly sold in supermarkets.

Loose-leaf tin or tea bags?

Same Alba Brew in both. The 90g tin is loose leaf. The 10 introductory pyramid tea bags are an easy first taste.

How do I brew Alba Brew?

Loose leaf: 1 teaspoon per 250ml cup of boiling water (100°C), steep 3–5 minutes, then strain. Tea bags: one bag per cup, steep 3–5 minutes.

Do you ship across Australia?
